many people surf the web under the illusion that their actions are private and anonymous..

unfortunately, there is more information collected about you

Hello. This is what the Snooper has been able to figure out about you:

  • You're using Mozilla 5.0, and your operating system is unknown .

  • You say that you can understand 4 language(s), identified by the following code(s): en-us,en;q=0.8,el;q=0.5,fr-fr;q=0.3.

  • Your host, that is the computer you are currently using to surf the Web, is called 'ppp-230-062.dialup.ntua.gr' and its IP address is 147.102.230.62. If your IP address is static (it stays the same every time you use that computer to surf the web), then it would be fairly trivial to try to track you based on that address. If your IP address changes each time you connect to the Internet (such as with most dial-up Internet Service Providers, or some cable-modem Internet Service Providers), then it will be a bit more difficult to track you on different visits to the web site.

If you are not sure if your address is static or not, simply come back to this web page in a few days. If the same IP address shows up, you probably have a static address.

  • The Web page that you were at before this page is: http://snoop.cdt.org/. Basically, every web server can keep track of the previous page you visited.

For example, let's say you conduct a search at a search engine (google.com, Yahoo.com, etc...) for "online civil liberties." If the CDT is one of the results of the search, when you visit CDT's web site by clicking on the link in the results listing, the CDT web server will show that you just came from a search engine.

  • Snoop couldn't get any information via 'finger' because 'ppp-230-062.dialup.ntua.gr' did not respond. Finger is a protocol that allows users to get information about you. Generally the information available via Finger is information that you have chosen to reveal to anyone who asks for it.

  • Here is a listing of the variables that you send to each web page you visit:

    • HTTP_ACCEPT_LANGUAGE: en-us,en;q=0.8,el;q=0.5,fr-fr;q=0.3
    • SERVER_PROTOCOL: INCLUDED
    • HTTP_REFERER: http://snoop.cdt.org/
    • HTTP_USER_AGENT: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.4b) Gecko/20030507
    • HTTP_ACCEPT: text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,video/x-mng,image/png,image/jpeg,image/gif;q=0.2,*/*;q=0.1
    • REMOTE_ADDR: 147.102.230.62
    • HTTP_ACCEPT_ENCODING: gzip,deflate
    • HTTP_ACCEPT_CHARSET: ISO-8859-7,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7
